Haiti’s General Administration of Customs (AGD) announced a remarkable success in June 2024, collecting 9.1 billion gourdes, or 115% of the forecast of 7.9 billion gourdes. “These amounts collected demonstrate the resilience and efficiency of Haiti’s customs administration, even in a difficult security context,” AGD officials said.

In comparison, in May 2024, the AGD collected 8.3 billion gourdes, reaching 82% of the forecast of 10.2 billion gourdes. Customs authorities welcome this solid performance despite fluctuating revenue targets from month to month.

The success of June 2024 contrasts with the decrease in imports in May 2024 compared to May 2023, from 45 to 28 billion gourdes in customs value. Nevertheless, in June 2024, the volume of imports increased by more than 20 thousand tons compared to the previous year.

Despite this increase, customs revenue fell from 10.7 billion gourdes in June 2023 to 9.1 billion in June 2024. The AGD emphasizes that these variations illustrate the complexity of international trade and the importance of the efficiency of the customs administration in the management of imports.
