On the 22nd day of MLS, Atlanta FC managed to gain the upper hand over Toronto FC with a final score of 2-1. Haitian international Derrick Étienne Junior, who faced his former club, was lined up in Toronto FC’s starting lineup and played the entire match.

The first goal of the evening came in the 45th+2 minute, scored by Argentine world champion Thiago Almada, giving Atlanta FC the lead before halftime. Toronto FC responded strongly, but their 27th-minute goal, scored by Lorenzo Insigne, was overturned after review by VAR.

In the second half, Toronto FC showed increased determination, equalizing through Federico Bernadeschi in the 46th minute, on an assist from Lorenzo Insigne, in a great combination between the two Italian players. However, Atlanta FC was still slow to regain the advantage, scoring the winning goal in the 90+7 minute thanks to Jamal Thiaré, Senegalese international.

The result allows Atlanta FC to consolidate their position at the top of the standings, while Toronto FC continue to look for better cohesion after this narrow defeat.
