Since last week, the Canadian military has ended training for the benefit of Caribbean troops to be part of the multinational mission in Haiti. The first contingents of the mission are expected to arrive in Haiti at the end of May 2024.

The multinational mission which has been awaited for almost two years seems to be on the verge of deployment. The first contingents should be deployed to Haiti at the end of May. The United States and Kenya are working so that the first Kenyan troops can be deployed in Port-au-Prince during the visit of Kenyan President Willian Ruto to Washington on May 23.

He is also informed that the training by the Canadian army of Caribbean troops consisting of at least 330 defense personnel from countries such as Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize has ended since last week. They received skills in peacekeeping, first aid, troop combat, etc.

Note that since February 29, 2024, armed gangs which limited themselves to terrorizing the populations of their respective areas, to making these spaces inaccessible have extended their tentacles throughout Port-au-Prince. They attack everything, including universities, public and private schools, vocational schools, prisons, hospitals, police stations and sub-police stations, among others. And even the tunes of the National Palace are not guaranteed.
