The new acting general director of the PNH, Normil Rameau, took office this Friday, June 21, 2024 during a ceremony held at the general management of the PNH.

In the presence of many senior Haitian authorities, including Prime Minister Garry Conille and President of the Presidential Transitional Council Edgard Leblanc Fils, Normil Rameau took office, succeeding Frantz Elbé, the outgoing ai director.

As the fifteenth director general of the PNH, Normil Rameau began his speech with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the violence hitting Haiti. Aware of the urgency of the security situation, he made commitments to restore order and security throughout the territory.

“The force of the law will silently reduce the arrogance and terror of the gangs,” said Normil Rameau, expressing his determination to strengthen the image of the National Police. Former director of the central directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) and former director general of the police, he was dismissed by former Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe. Rameau stressed the need for unwavering support from the Haitian government in the fight against gangs.

The new director also emphasized the importance of assisting police officers and the families of fallen officers. He pledged to provide the necessary support to strengthen the morale and efficiency of his men on the ground, saying he was aware of the internal challenges of the institution.

Recall that Normil Rameau was officially appointed new acting director general of the Haitian National Police (PNH) on Wednesday June 19, 2024, by a decree published in the monitor.
