With a month and a half to go before the start of the 2024-2025 school year, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) organized a workshop from July 12 to 14, 2024 in Pétion-Ville. This event, bringing together the heads of the general pole coordinations, technical departments, general departments of decentralized organizations and members of the office of Minister Augustin Antoine, aims to harmonize ongoing educational projects.

During the inaugural ceremony, Minister Antoine stressed the urgency of an in-depth diagnosis of the MENFP’s projects to improve the education system. “It is indeed crucial for our ministry to work in a coordinated and coherent manner in order to guarantee the success of our actions and the quality of our services,” he said.

During the discussions, four major themes were addressed. These are the ten-year education and training plan (PDEF), the annual operational plan (POA) and the roadmap of the technical departments for 2024-2025; the mapping of the interventions of the technical departments with the support of international donors and field operators; the establishment of a digital communication and dialogue system for the harmonization of interventions; and the creation of an action monitoring system for better interaction between the bodies financing the projects and the technical departments.

Minister Antoine stressed the need to optimize resources to improve the quality of educational services. “At the end of this retreat, I would have liked to have, in the form of a photo, the status of each entity that would allow me to make the necessary decisions with a view to optimizing the limited resources allocated to the sector,” he said.

The general coordinator of the MENFP’s education and quality division, Joseph Job Maurice, also stressed the importance of understanding the foundations of the ministry’s projects and the strategies for mobilizing donors.

The majority of technical entities and decentralized structures of the MENFP participated in the workshop, including representatives of the preschool education management office, the basic education directorate, and others. Also present were the Director General of the MENFP, Dr. Meniol Jeune, and other senior officials from the education sector.

In conclusion, the Minister of Education encouraged participants to share their ideas constructively to make the MENFP more effective and efficient, emphasizing educational projects centered on the classroom and community development.
