The Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) in the shoes of Spartacus and Kriksus?

The Presidential Transitional Council is at the heart of current events in Haiti. He receives a mixed opinion. For some, this is an opportunity to be seized, while others see it as an aggravation of the complexity of the current Haitian problem. As an impartial observer, we can understand the concerns of the population, which are entirely justified, given that the members of the CPT, who are traditional political actors, have not been able to agree on a social contract putting forward the interests of the nation for more than 37 years.

However, in this state of chaos and dilapidation that republican institutions find themselves in, the country is confronted with the rise of organized crime and terrorism which are largely caused by the extreme inequality in the redistribution of the country’s wealth (v ° John Rawls, Theory of Justice, Harvard, 1971).

From crisis to crisis, the country continues to get bogged down and its situation continues to deteriorate. Haitians face appalling tragedy every day, and the entire country is now an open graveyard. Recent events are directly leading the country towards an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Essential foodstuffs are already starting to become scarce, followed by strategic products in the coming days. If no measures are taken to rehabilitate ports, airports and national roads, Haiti risks experiencing a famine similar to that which raged in Bolshevik Russia in 1918.

Faced with this sinister and worrying setting, a presidential college of nine members was created with the aim of addressing, even partially, the evils which could lead to the disappearance of the Haitian nation. However, is it certain that the members of this neophyte structure understand the issues and challenges that await them? We are convinced that they are not fools and devoid of reason, but given the complexity of the problem, it may be difficult for them to grasp it in all its aspects and in its global dimension. It would be beneficial for the CPT to gain height, to decenter itself, to elevate itself, to take a step back and to think deeply in order to provide concrete solutions, or even remedies, to these problems.

We are convinced that, in this crucial fight that the CPT must engage in against the diseases which threaten to wipe out Haitian society, the nine protagonists must be inspired by Spartacus and Kriksus in their fight to the death against Théocolès known under the name of ” the shadow of death”, if they want to achieve victory.

The CPT could be beneficial for the country, as it offers the possibility of benefiting from the thinking of nine people instead of just one. However, there is a risk, if they do not provide an effective pedagogy and a rigorous, precise and coherent work methodology, there is a risk of falling into the trap of slowness, egocentrism and individualism, which often tend to predominate in any group. Team collaboration has never been easy, it is a learning process that takes time. If the CPT is to succeed, it is important that the members have a mentality similar to that of a football or basketball team, where everyone has their own function but everyone works together to achieve the set goal. In order to achieve its objectives,

the CPT should adopt a winning attitude and act coherently. Implement a philosophy that highlights interdependence and complementarity, support each other and use the methodology of co-development and co-construction.

It is true that this may seem complex to achieve, but if the advisors are motivated by good intentions and a patriotic spirit, the spirit of the founding fathers and the tutelary spirits of the nation will be able to show them the way forward.

However, if among them, nonchalance, fanaticism, extremism, the feeling of belonging to a clan, predominate, this will undoubtedly lead to a defeat with serious consequences for the 11 million Haitians who never stop hoping the appearance of a better horizon. The CPT has a crucial responsibility to put the country back on the path set by the founding fathers. As Captains, they hold the rudder of the ship of the Nation. Thus, it is up to them to decide whether the boat reaches the port safely or whether the

this will be shipwreck. If they fail through greed, through clannishness, through amateurism, through avarice, they will unfortunately be relegated to the dustbin of history and their name will be forgotten.

The transitional presidential council must decide between collective glory and collective failure. Neither will succeed in standing out if they try to drown out the other. We are also convinced that they desire nothing other than the redemption of the nation. In order to achieve their goal, they should act ethically, honestly and sincerely. The constitution of their government team, their attitude and the choices they make in the coming days will reveal how they plan to govern the country.
