Yellow alert level in Haiti: Hurricane BERYL threatens the departments of the Grand Sud of the country

Yellow alert in Haiti: Hurricane BERYL approaches, risks of heavy rains and strong windsThe Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti has issued a yellow alert due to the threat posed by Hurricane BERYL, which has already hit several Caribbean islands. BERYL continues its progression towards the southeastern Caribbean islands and is expected to reach the Sud, Sud-Est and Grand-Anse departments from this Tuesday until Wednesday, July 3.

According to the latest forecast, Hurricane BERYL will bring many hazards, including heavy rain, strong winds and hail. In view of these risks, the Hydrometeorological Unit has declared a yellow alert level for Haiti, due to the threat of flooding, heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The National Risk and Disaster Management System calls on the population to closely monitor weather reports and comply with the instructions of the authorities. Due to the turbulent maritime conditions, the Hydrometeorological Unit, in collaboration with SEMANAH and Civil Protection, announced the ban on all cabotage activities on the southern coast of the country. Boat operators are therefore requested not to set sail from this Tuesday evening until Wednesday, July 3.

The population is encouraged to remain vigilant and prepare for the possible impacts of Hurricane BERYL, by carefully following the information and recommendations of the competent authorities.
