Haitian table tennis player, James Bernard, will be the only representative of Haiti at the senior Caribbean table tennis championship, due to travel restrictions imposed by the Dominican authorities on Haitian nationals.

Bernard will participate in the individual event of the tournament which will take place from April 16 to 21, 2024 at Parque Del Este in the Dominican Republic. He will face the Puerto Rican table tennis player Naranjo on April 18, then the Trinidadian Roopnari on April 19, with the objective of qualifying for the following phases of the championship.

This tournament is of capital importance as a qualifying phase for the Pan American Championship scheduled for October in San Salvador. Additionally, James Bernard will represent Haiti in the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which will take place in Peru in May.

At the same time, the Hinche table tennis club (HMO/TTC) will organize a tournament on April 20 to celebrate World Table Tennis Day, as indicated by Buckford Démothènes, secretary general of the Haitian Table Tennis Federation (FHTT).

It should be noted that the Haitian national team, usually composed of six members, was forced to only designate Bernard, residing in Philadelphia, to represent the country.
