In a correspondence addressed by the Collective of Lawyers for the Defense of Human Rights (CADDOH) to Prime Minister Garry Conille, the lawyers expressed their concern regarding the situation of prisoners incarcerated in the various Haitian prisons. CADDOH takes the opportunity to request food aid from the Head of Government to help prison centers cope with this famine which threatens the lives of prisoners.

The situation is alarming in Haitian civilian prisons where prisoners suffer seriously from lack of food. According to CADDOH, the prisoners lack everything, including toiletries. In Jacmel, Petit-Goave and Cap, the situation is the same. In certain cases, it is the clerks, magistrates, lawyers, among others who contribute to giving the prisoners something to eat, specifies the collective which even mentions cases of death.

Building on this situation, CADDOH formally requests humanitarian aid from the Prime Minister to relieve those incarcerated. In this letter, the collective specifies that the prisons are out of stock and this risks costing the lives of prisoners.
