The lawyers of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti are filing a request before the government commissioner for light on the fire that took place at the home of Monsignor Pierre André-Duma.

In a communique issued today, Friday, March 1, the Episcopal Conference of Haiti announced that its lawyers will file a petition before the Port-au-Prince government prosecutor to ask him to put public action in motion in order to shed light on the large fire that took place at home Monsignor Pierre André-Duma on Sunday, February 18. If the two judges went to investigate what happened, the church officials found it necessary for the prosecution to tell what happened that day when the Monsignor arrived burned and is being cared for in a US hospital.

“Our lawyers will submit a request to the Commissioner of the Government to ask him to put public Action in motion on the file. Since such a big event has happened, the judiciary must go and find out what happened”this is what the head of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti wrote in this communication while underlining the authority of the Church in Rome, the other Sister Churches, the Church of Haiti, all citizens of the country need to know what is causing this great explosion.

The communique underlined Monsignor Dumas is suffering a lot. His family is suffering. The bishops, the priests, the faithful of the diocese “Anse-à-Veau/Miragoâne”all citizens of good will are suffering while it is assured that there is hope because the Monsignor continues to be cared for in a hospital abroad, in the United States. “We are praying for his recovery. We are praying that he can return to us, return to his diocese, resume the work of proclaiming the gospel of love, justice and peace”is what the Church members expect in the communique.

The communique also took the opportunity to show solidarity with the kidnapped people and remind the country’s authorities that they are the ones responsible for securing the country. “The life of the people is on our account because since you accept to be responsible, you accept all the privileges, all the duties and all the burdens it brings.”

The Episcopal Conference of Haiti will conclude by saying that it is waiting for the results of the work of the Scientific Police, it is waiting for the results of the investigation and asking God for peace and justice for Haiti and healing for Monsignor Pierre André-Duma.
