After 2 months of incarceration, on the orders of investigating judge Al Duniel Sunday in the context of the case relating to corruption at the National Equipment Center (CNE), the former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Cholzer Chancy was released this Wednesday 27 March 2024 after his hearing by the investigating magistrate, Merlan Belabre.
This release occurs following a request for a waiver, requested by the defendant’s lawyer from the Haitian justice system, due to the state of health of the former parliamentarian.
Supporters of the former parliamentarian present at the Cabinet of Instruction expressed their satisfaction, while reaffirming their commitment to defending Cholzer Chancy. “He is innocent, he should not have spent all this time in prison, but the main thing is done now” declared one of the supporters of the coordinator of the political party Alliance for a Society without Exclusion (ASE).
