Donald Trump lost his right to own guns after his conviction for hush-moneyand the New York City Police Department is reportedly doing something about it.
A senior police official told CNN on Wednesday that the New York Police Department was preparing to revoke the former president’s gun permit.
An investigation by the department’s legal office “will likely lead to the revocation of his license,” the official said. But Mr. Trump could challenge the decision.
The New York Times also confirmed the department’s intentions.
According to the newspaper, Mr. Trump had a concealed carry permit in New York and three registered pistols. He turned two of them over to New York police when he was charged in the New York case in April 2023. The third gun had been legally transferred to Florida.
According to the Times, federal and two state laws stipulate that convicted felons cannot possess firearms.
