The Dominican Consulate in Miami has provided details regarding the ban on entry into the Dominican Republic for travelers with a Haitian passport.

During a call made this Thursday morning by journalist Luckson Saint-Vil to the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Miami, it was confirmed that no special measures had been put in place for people traveling with a Haitian passport. Dominican authorities have made arrangements to check the entries and exits of all people entering their territory. However, the Consulate clarified that as long as travelers have a valid passport, legal status in the United States or a Dominican visa, they can enter and exit without problem.

However, two airlines informed the reporter in a phone call Wednesday that they could not take passengers with Haitian passports to Santo Domingo. This situation is corroborated by testimonies from travelers using Spirit Airlines, who confirmed that they were indeed stranded, as reported by journalist Luckson Saint-Vil.

As a reminder, JetBlue and American Airlines have confirmed that passengers holding a Haitian passport cannot travel to the Dominican Republic. The journalist Luckson Saint-Vil had shared this information on its pages on social networks, specifying that the customer service of these two airlines had confirmed this restriction. “You will be able to fly to the Dominican Republic, but only if you have a US passport. If the passenger has a Haitian passport, unfortunately, we cannot authorize boarding,” one of the agents told the journalist.
