A 14-year-old Haitian teenager was raped by a Dominican Migration agent on April 5. This act was committed during a migration operation organized by the Dominican authorities. Reacting to the situation, the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR) said it took note of the commitment of the Dominican leaders while vehemently condemning this despicable act of which the young minor was the victim.
It has already been more than a week since the information caused a scandal. Indeed, it is a rape committed against a Haitian national in the neighboring Republic by one of its agents who was taking part in a migratory activity, on April 5. The young lady is 14 years old, reports all sources consulted. A situation which embarrasses the Dominican Government which announces measures.
According to Dominican migration authorities, an investigation is already underway to identify and punish the culprit. This is also the position of the Dominican President, Luiz Abinader, who says he has difficulty digesting what happened. In his statement on the issue, the Dominican number one affirms that the law will be applied in all its rigor against the author of this act.
This Dominican position rather delighted the Haitian side in particular, the GARR which says it takes note of the Dominican commitments in this violation of human rights which is making headlines. The human rights organization also firmly condemns this despicable and dishonest action committed by the Dominican agent.
Remember that the Haitian Government, via its Chancellery, had already expressed to its counterpart its frustration and anger following this demeaning event.
