The government publishes the order appointing members of the Presidential Council

The government published this Tuesday, April 16, a decree signed by all ministers, including the Prime Minister Ariel Henriappointing the members of the Presidential Transitional Council.

According to the decree, the members of the Presidential Transitional Council with rights are:

  1. Citizen Smith AUGUSTIN;
  2. Citizen Louis Gérald GILLES;
  3. Citizen Fritz Alphonse JEAN;
  4. Citizen Edgard LEBLANC Son:
  5. Citizen Laurent SAINT-CYR;
  6. Citizen Emmanuel VERTILAR;
  7. Citizen Leslie VOLTAIRE.

The members of the Transitional Presidential Council as Observers and without voting rights are:

  1. Citizen Régine ABRAHAM;
  2. Citizen Frinel JOSEPH.

Despite the publication of the order appointing the members of the CP, the government requires them to submit the required documents within a reasonable time. Otherwise, they will be forced to resign from their position as presidential advisor.

The Transitional Presidential Council quickly chooses and appoints a Prime Minister. The latter, in agreement with the Presidential Transitional Council, chooses the members of his Ministerial Cabinet in an inclusive manner. The members of the Transitional Presidential Council are subject to the asset declaration formalities provided for by the Constitution and the Law in this area.

Note that according to the decree, the mandate of the Transitional Presidential Council ends, at the latest, on February 7, 2026. The Transitional Presidential Council cannot benefit from an extension of mandate. Members of the Presidential Transitional Council as well as those of the government will not be able to run in the next elections. The Transitional Presidential Council has its headquarters at the National Palace.

The Presidential Transitional Council, according to the decree, participates, in agreement with the Prime Minister, in the formation of an inclusive Ministerial Cabinet; approves the agenda of the Council of Ministers, in agreement with the Prime Minister, and co-signs the Decrees; sets the criteria for selecting the members of an impartial Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and appoints them; takes all measures to promote a peaceful transition; ensures continuity of governance and establishes a National Security Council; continues collaboration with all members of the international community for the accelerated deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission authorized by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699/2023.
