The search for political stability in Haiti, through the establishment of a Presidential Transitional Council outside any legal and constitutional framework, faces persistent obstacles, notably with the withdrawal Monday evening of a candidate in course of course.
According to information collected by Rezo Nòdwès, René Jean Jumeau, former minister under the presidency of Martelly-Lamothe Tèt Kale 1 and whose name is mentioned in the report of the Court of Auditors as an alleged squanderer of public funds, decided to withdraw, thus leaving the possibility for supporters of the PHTK regime to find a replacement within the Council.
Mr. Jean Jumeau was expected to occupy an observer role within this institution, which was established with the participation of CARICOM and Haiti’s international partners.
In a note addressed to his associates Monday evening, he announced his withdrawal in these terms: “I am leaving meetings and consultations with my group. I’m really sorry for the short notice, but I want to give you free reign, without interference. » However, Jean Jumeau never made a public comment on the Petro Caribe report, despite his responsibility in the management of funds during the Tèt Kale 1 administration. “I will withdraw from the Council, as I explained” , he added.
René Jean Jumeau also revealed that his involvement in the Presidential Council was “voluntary”, probably with the aim of being of service to the Nation, while awaiting the completion of the electrification program that he promised.
