In a letter addressed to the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes, the Minister of Justice and Public Security Carlos Hercule informed the latter that he is on leave until further notice.
Thunderclap. Ronald Richemond is no longer the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes. He has been placed on leave until further notice.
This decision, according to the Minister of Justice and Public Security, was taken after receiving various complaints against the person concerned in the exercise of his functions as Government Commissioner at the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes.
“In order to shed light on the truth surrounding the facts with which you are accused and to guarantee the impartiality of the investigation which will be carried out by a commission designated for this purpose, it has been decided to place you on leave until new order,” writes current Minister of Justice Carlos Hercule.
Ronald Richemond is accused of many acts, including his alleged involvement in the assassination of journalist Garry Tesse. On several occasions, SOS journalists called for his ouster. In the past, former minister Emmelie Prophète Milcé had blamed him but without dismissing him or placing him on leave.
In a note made public this Thursday, SOS Journalistes welcomes the government’s decision to sideline Me Chérimond.
