President Biden plans to grant Green Cards to 4,000 undocumented immigrants facing deportation, provided they have resided in the United States for at least ten years and have no convictions for “serious crimes”.

The Justice Department’s executive office reviewing immigration issues has outlined a proposal to make thousands of immigrants legal permanent residents in September 2023, the Daily Mail reported.

To benefit from this privileged status, migrants must also demonstrate “good moral character” and demonstrate that they “would suffer exceptional and extremely unusual hardship” if deported.

“You will need to wait your turn before an immigration judge approves your application,” the proposal document reads. “It could take years.
The Post has reached out to the Executive Office for Immigration Review for comment.

During his first 100 days as president, Mr. Biden took several executive actions to reverse former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, such as the “Remain in Mexico” program, steps that later been upheld by federal court decisions.

Since then, the number of migrants entering the United States illegally has broken records each year, with a total of 7.4 million people apprehended at the southern border, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.
