Even in the darkest era of the Duvalier dictatorship, the country did not suffer as many wrongdoings as under the PHTK-Tet Kale/SDP-Fusion regime, which plunged the nation into hell. The latest acts in the city center represent a turning point in the series of vicious attacks perpetrated by terrorist gangs, who first attacked the Haitian health system and education, then directed their destructive violence against the dean of the national press.

Le Nouvelliste, an emblem of Haitian journalism, founded in 1898 and a pioneer in the dissemination of national information, was the prey of looting and acts of vandalism orchestrated by these criminal groups. Located in the heart of Port-au-Prince, this bastion of information was brutally ransacked, raising questions about the motivations of the real perpetrators hiding behind the terrorists.

The extent of the damage suffered by Le Nouvelliste remains uncertain, but it is undeniable that the attackers stole material assets of vital importance for the dissemination of information.

These attacks come less than 24 hours after the entry into office of a new government, marked by the withdrawal of Ariel Henry from his post of de facto Prime Minister, without leading to the resignation of his fatalist government.

Despite everything, this change of course has not spared Haiti from a deep crisis and widespread chaos.

Faced with this climate of growing instability, the problem arises acutely: what are the real motivations of the gangs who today attack institutions as vital as Le Nouvelliste?

National Library, medical establishments, national press organs, and now the venerable daily newspaper Le Nouvelliste, have been the targets of their abuses. Thus, faced with this escalation of violence, Prime Minister Boisvert is experiencing an enormous challenge in his management of the country, particularly alongside the Presidential Council.

Questions about how he intends to deal with this situation remain relevant, as the country struggles to maintain a semblance of stability in a climate of growing uncertainty.
