24 avril 2018 : Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant installs five new ministers in the government. They are Guy André François, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE); Guyler C. Delva, Minister of Culture and Communication (MCC) ; Joubert Angrand, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR); Jean Roody Aly, Minister of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) and Jean-Marie R. Brunet, Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT).
24 avril 2019 : six people are murdered and around twenty others injured in the Carrefour Feuilles district during an attack perpetrated by a group of armed individuals, led by the well-known Tije gang leader.
24 avril 2020 : the scientific health crisis management unit is asking the Haitian government to prepare for a possible massive wave of Covid-19 contamination. “3 million people, or 25% of the population, could be infected and would be asymptomatic. We could record 20,000 deaths and more if strict provisions are not observed,” warned Dr. Patrick Dély, coordinator of this health crisis management entity.
24 avril 1966 : visit of Emperor Haile Selassie to Haiti. The visit of Haile Selassie, considered the descendant of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, monopolized all the energy of President François Duvalier at the end of April. Under his order, the city of Port-au-Prince was decorated in national and Ethiopian colors and an arch was erected at the corner of Route de Delmas and Boulevard Jean Jacques Dessalines.
24 avril 1970 : mutiny of the Haitian Coast Guard. Under the command of Colonel Octave Cayard, a hundred coast guards rise up against President François Duvalier and order him to abandon the presidency. 24 hours later and running out of ammunition, they set sail for Guantanamo, Cuba aboard three ships.
