Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry officially signed his resignation letter on Wednesday, paving the way for a new government and bringing some political stability to a country plagued by gang violence and an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
With the sound of gunshots in the background, the nine members of a transitional council were sworn in early Thursday at the National Palace.
“We have served the nation in difficult times,” wrote Mr. Henry, whose resignation letter lists an address in Los Angeles. “I sympathize with the losses and suffering endured by our compatriots during this period.
