To Pierre Robert Auguste, a beacon of our pen,
Happy birthday, may life ignite and light up!

Gonaives – ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD BOOK DAY: DEFENDING THE UNIVERSAL DIGNITY OF THE BLACK MAN

This is the appeal launched by Pierre Robert Auguste, Tuesday April 23, in Gonaïves, in front of an audience of schoolchildren, on the occasion of the celebration of world book and copyright day organized by the Cultural Circle des Jeunes (CCJ), with the participation of three local writers in signature, Charlito Louissaint (Mach minwi), Wedny Bézil (Silabè Lakasyèl), Richardson Auguste (Journeys to slit the night, Letter from a wounded season).

At first glance, Mr. Auguste, president of the Institute of Global Change of Haiti (ICGH), defines the book as an intangible treasure that must be made available to all to facilitate spiritual communion between the writer and the reader. He is delighted that in Gonaïves, Fred Brutus, founder and CEO of C3 Éditions and the Amarenthe Cultural Center, is doing so with dedication and underlines the meritorious action of the leaders of the Alliance Française of Gonaïves. If it is a duty to learn to read, choosing what to read must be an adaptation to an era. Today, recommends Mr. Auguste, while Haiti is suffering from a situation close to a foreign intervention as in 1915, we must choose to read the works of those who knew how to defend the identity and universality of the dignity of the black man, such as Jean Price Mars, Hannibal Price, Jean Brierre, in particular.

Because, he specifies, it is the same process of denial of the gesture of January 1, 1804 which continues hypocritically through the theory of the insignificance of the Core Group, in defiance of international law and the moral values of the civilized world society, paradoxically against a member of the UN, Haiti.

As in 1915, we find the same defects: holders of capital, devoid of any fundamentally bourgeois mentality, who implore foreign intervention with wanton eagerness. Villainous politicians, eager to be infatuated with the title of president without real power. Men and women ready to advance in front of the white “flat on their stomachs or flat on their backs”, to repeat Sténio Vincent. Their reversals and counter-reversals should not move you otherwise, but convince you of the urgent and essential duty to raise your head and defend the eminent universal dignity of the man that you are, that we are, he reprimands. towards young people.

Because the current situation is the result of a clever manipulation of deconstruction of a country from which the Secretary’s complicity is not exempt. The only weapon to win is intelligence and a sense of social solidarity to rebuild the Mecca of the black man that Haiti is eternally, according to Hannibal Price, he concluded to the applause of the assistance.
