The classrooms of the National School of Arts (ENARTS) were ransacked by armed gangs

A new institution has suffered the wrath of armed gangs operating around the Champ de Mars.

After carrying out various attacks on public buildings, armed individuals looted the only plastic arts training school in the country.

A true institution that trained the greatest Haitian visual artists, Enarts, located on rue Monseigneur Guilloux, has over time become a reference in the national and international cultural world.

A source confides that individuals “broke the fence and looted the building. All materials were taken away. They destroyed all the renovation work that had been carried out,” stressing that this climate of insecurity is bringing the cultural sector to its knees.

Despite this attack, management announces that online courses will continue while waiting for the building to be renovated.

Created on July 3, 1983, ENARTS is an autonomous organization placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC ). Its mission is to facilitate the development of the artist and the influence of Haitian art by providing basic classical and artistic training, allowing them to acquire new theoretical and practical knowledge, to understand and appreciate the various artistic movements and trends that are transforming and developing in Haiti and elsewhere, to renew and appreciate knowledge, and to master basic techniques essential to the creation and interpretation of a form of original art and valid which is protected from any deterioration “.
