P-to-P, April 25, 2024 [AlterPresse] — De facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry officially submitted his resignation this Thursday, April 25, 2024, in the context of the installation of members of the Presidential Transitional Council, AlterPresse learns.

“We have served the nation in difficult times. I thank everyone who had the courage to face such challenges with me. I sympathize with the losses and suffering endured by our compatriots during this period,” wrote Ariel Henry from Los Angeles, California (USA), in correspondence addressed to the de facto Council of Ministers dated Wednesday April 24, 2024.

Ariel Henry has been forced to stay abroad since Tuesday March 5, 2024due to coordinated gang attacks in Port-au-Prince which prevented him from returning to the country.

Furthermore, the de facto holder of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef), Michel Patrick Boisvert, will continue to play the role of interim prime minister until the appointment of a new government, according to a decree from the government of facto.

The members of the Presidential Transitional Council were sworn in this Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the National Palace, Champs de Mars.

Shots were heard as the event took place in the area.
