THE HAITI FACTOR, June 18, 2024._The National Identification Office (ONI) published on Monday June 17, 2024, a press release through which it formally denies rumors according to which its annexes require money from citizens in exchange of the National Identification Card (CIN).
The General Directorate of the ONI reminds the population that the National Identification Card remains completely free.
Therefore, the ONI urges all citizens to exercise increased vigilance in the face of networks of racketeers who pose as ONI agents and enjoy extorting service seekers.
Thus, the institution invites all those who have not yet done so to come and collect their CIN(s) in all the offices of the institution across the country by contacting ONI agents duly identified.
The ONI, via the press release, insists on the fact that no fees should and cannot be required to obtain the Card.
« Any request for payment for this service is illegal and should be reported immediately to the relevant authorities», advises General Management.
In this sense, the Office says it encourages citizens to collaborate with the institution by providing useful information likely to help flush out networks of counterfeiters and ransomware and reaffirm its commitment to serving the Haitian population in accordance with his mission.
