The members of the Presidential Council say they have developed the criteria and mechanisms for the choice of the president of the Council.
Through a press release dated March 27, 2024 bearing the signatures of the members of the Presidential Council and authenticated by Frinel Joseph, they say they have developed the criteria and mechanisms for the choice of the President of the Council.
In this press release of which Juno7 received a copy, the members of the Council express their determination to relieve the suffering of the Haitian people, trapped for too long between bad governance, multifaceted violence and disregard for their perspectives and their needs.
“As soon as it is installed, the Presidential Council will appoint a Prime Minister, with whom it will constitute a Government of National Unity and put Haiti back on the path to democratic legitimacy, stability and dignity”
However, the Presidential Council wishes to inform the population, the Haitian diaspora and the international community of the preparation for its official assumption of office.
“Together, we will execute a clear action plan aimed at the restoration of public and democratic order through the restoration of security of lives and property of the population, the relief of poverty and the realization of free elections as well as reforms necessary for the progress of the nation”
Furthermore, the Presidential Council informs that it is finalizing a document on its organization and mode of operation including a transparent political agreement between the sectors involved in the process.
Nevertheless, he salutes the bravery and work of law enforcement officers in securing public space despite the challenges of this difficult environment, while recalling that we are at a crucial turning point which calls us for unity. Therefore, it is imperative that the entire nation comes together to overcome this crisis for the well-being of all and a better future for the country.
