In popular Haitian language, all illnesses are not natural, since some have been manufactured, used to punish or harm someone, if not a people, a state or any nation. Is this the case for what we are experiencing in the current situation of the first independent African country in the Americas?
This is the situation in Haiti, a country born from a socio-political revolution, which destroyed the relationships of colonial and slave domination. It was about the triumph of ideals favorable to the freedom of a working people and the development of a new state. Since this epic, the Haitian nation, accused by the great powers of the time of being the carrier of a dangerous virus, has been threatened. To safeguard the vital interests of the international dominant classes, it was necessary to prevent this people from contaminating other subject peoples with their virus of national liberation.
Indeed, Francisco de Miranda and Simon Bolivar were not only contaminated but also received this serum of freedom in arms and ammunition to achieve the abolition and liberation of slaves under Spanish domination in Gran Colombia which gave birth to these three states: Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.
As for Haiti, it is this great country that has fallen ill, affected by a destructive pandemic from its worst enemies. Since then, it has suffered from an epidemic of bad governance and all-out corruption that has thrown the Haitian state into total disarray. The American occupation of 1915 in all its hideousness disoriented the country which became difficult to govern, in fact, impossible to anticipate major trends to recognize, at the right time, the opportunities to seize and the risks to prevent. Battalions of incompetent, careless and wasteful people of all kinds have always been imposed by external powers to maintain the status quo. Having become an impoverished, pillaged country, the population lives in extreme poverty and has great difficulty finding the path to economic development and social peace.
The country has experienced the worst natural and political disasters in its history, which in fact are the result of abject poverty created by almost two centuries of imperialist domination. The most sadly visible criminal act of which he was the victim remains the chronic political instability, crowned with new and endless socio-economic and security tensions. Those who have always run to his bedside and claim to help him recover are the main minds who have set a trap for him. Their foreign medical staff: American, French and Canadian doctors have always only prescribed drugs prepared in their laboratories which will certainly lead him towards a certain end if there is no antidote. The infectious disease that strikes Haiti was created by Westerners, these vampires who want to drain all its blood to first destroy its immune system and then prevent it from regaining its former energies and qualities.
They also make it incapable of doing anything, even of having new ideas in order to adapt to the present and finally embark on the path of sustainable development and political-economic stability.
Despite international aid and despite numerous technical assistance programs, his case has gotten worse. Like a curse, from now on, the capital and certain Haitian provincial towns look like fields of ruins. In a state of disrepair, this is how the former slavers like to contemplate the beauty of Haiti, the beauty that was once the Pearl of the Antilles. All this expresses the symbolism, cynicism and evil of imperialism towards the country.
Although capitalism has completely failed in Haiti, Haiti’s enemies have just managed to make the destabilizing policy of imperialism acceptable to the most naive. They are preparing to implement a reform solution with a tailor-made Presidential College. A cosmetic process that they have repeatedly imposed, so that the fundamental problems remain intact, unchanged. These nine individuals forming the Presidential Transitional Council are only repeat offenders who, in the past, under the control of Washington, did not dare transform Haitian society in such a way as to put it back on track.
This new American transition to which the traditional political class was only invited to endorse the measure, is nothing but the pure product of imperialism. In truth, it represents no hope for the deprived and oppressed Haitians in the face of this epidemic forged by more than a century of exploitation and oppression.
The reality, if the word revolution comes back to sound in this situation, it is because many people are beginning to understand that the only way to save the country from its illness remains a revolutionary type of change. In this regard, the task of the workers is to overthrow the entire capitalist system in Haiti and it is to thwart this idea, so that it does not evolve, that the imperialist powers try all kinds of acrobatics.
The treatment will take time, but at all costs we will emerge victorious from this epidemic from which the country is suffering. The only solution is to rely on the underprivileged masses and it is in this perspective that the newspaper’s struggle takes place. Haiti Liberty. We will never stab popular resistance as certain collaborators with the capitalist powers have done.
