Claude Joseph denounces government maneuvers aimed at sabotaging the establishment of the presidential council

The resigning government published the decree creating the presidential transition council. A decision which was welcomed by CARICOM. But the decree appointing members is still slow to be published. The leader of EDE stepped up to denounce what he calls maneuvers by those in power.

“The EDE Political Party reaffirms its firm attachment to the Political Agreement for a Peaceful and Orderly Transition of April 3, 2024 and to the draft decree harmonizing the functioning of the Presidential Council with the said agreement. In this sense, EDE rejects any legal-political approach which ignores the content of these documents and denounces the desperate maneuvers of the resigning power aimed at sabotaging the political process resulting from the Consensus of March 11, 2024 as well as boycotting the establishment of the Council Presidential »he wrote on X.

According to the decree it is up to the Prime Minister Ariel Henry that it is up to us to take the necessary measures for the installation of the Presidential Transitional Council.
