The UEH Rectorate denounced the acts of vandalism and looting at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy
The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy ofState University of Haiti (UEH) was attacked on the night of Saturday April 20 to Sunday April 21, 2024 by coalition gangs “Live Together”. The thugs ransacked the space and took away all the solar panels, electrical equipment and several vehicles. In a note, the Rectorate of the UEH denounces these acts of vandalism and looting, while emphasizing that the results of the damage must be assessed.
“The damage toll is to be assessed. However, it risks being simply unsustainable. According to the first elements of information, it was noted that almost all the solar panels and electrical equipment, cafeteria equipment and several service vehicles of the institution were taken away.informed the Rectorate in the note.
Faced with this attack, the Rectorate denounces and vehemently condemns these acts of vandalism and looting against this heritage represented by this entity of the UEH which has trained and continues to train high-level health professionals at the service of all layers of the population.
Furthermore, UEH officials recall that
“The State University of Haiti is the main provider of qualified human resources in the country. In this sense, it belongs to the whole nation. These systematic attacks against its entities are unacceptable and incomprehensible.”
Since the outbreak of scenes of violence orchestrated by armed gangs in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince, several university spaces have been the target of these armed men who did not hesitate to ransack, pillage and even burn these spaces which have been closed since February.
