On Tuesday April 16, 2024, the government finally published the names of the nine members designated to form the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) in a special issue of the Official Journal Le Moniteur.
A second important step has been taken in the transfer of power process in Haiti. Indeed, the nine members to sit on the Presidential Transitional Council are now official.
According to article 1 of this special issue of the Moniteur, Smith Augustin, Louis Gérald Gilles, Fritz Alphonse Jean, Edgard Leblanc Fils, Laurent Saint-Cyr, Emmanuel Vertilaire and Leslie Voltaire are the members of the CPT with voting rights. Régine Abraham and Frinel Joseph, for their part, will sit as observers without the right to vote.
This decision to make the decree public this Tuesday comes after a position taken the day before by the European Union on the crisis in Haiti, which demanded the appointment of the CPT as quickly as possible by the outgoing government.
