Heavily armed individuals invaded this Thursday, April 25, part of the road from Nazon to the bottom of Delmas.
While the Presidential Transitional Council is installed this Thursday, April 25, 2024, the armed gangs do not want to give up their weapons. At the time of writing this article (10:45 a.m.), heavily armed individuals invaded part of the Nazon road, passing through Delmas 24, Carrefour de l’Aéroport to the bottom of Delmas.
According to local residents, these armed individuals carried out their actions, on the orders of the powerful gang leader, Jimmy Chérisier known as Barbecue, in order to obstruct the Presidential Council composed of 7 members with the right to vote and 2 other observers without the right to vote.
“Agents of the Haitian National Police exchange shots with the thugs but to date, the situation is very tense” explains a local resident contacted by telephone by Juno7.
A PNH official contacted subsequently explained that police officers will arrive shortly to reinforce the law enforcement officers who want at all costs to obstruct the plan of the gang groups.
It should be noted that this Thursday, April 25 in the morning, at the time of the swearing-in ceremony of the members of the Presidential Council, heavily armed individuals grouped within “viv ansanm” exchanged fire with law enforcement agents, not far from the Palais National. According to an initial assessment, several people were injured and at least 3 others were killed.
